Choosing a line & declaring
When you submit a parcel you pick an international line and declare the contents per that line's requirements. Lines differ in price, speed, size/weight limits and which items they accept.
How shipping is priced
Cost is based on actual weight or volumetric (dimensional) weight — whichever is greater — plus the line's rules. Consolidating multiple items into one parcel usually lowers the total and avoids paying base fees several times.
Customs, duty & VAT
International shipments can be subject to customs duty, EU VAT or other taxes depending on your country and the declared value. Some destinations and lines require a tax / EORI number for clearance. There is always a chance of customs inspection, delays, returns or restrictions on prohibited goods.
Tips to save
- Consolidate orders to reduce volumetric weight.
- Check your country's de-minimis threshold and VAT rules before shipping.
- Avoid prohibited or restricted items for your chosen line.
